4 years ago I became his boss, I had to let the guy go that was passed over. He never could get passed the fact that I was hired. I gave him a million chances to make it work, but at the end of the day, he gave up on learning and growing. He was let go last year.

You are probably nothing like him. But learn from the new guy and you will be better for it. It will create opportunities for you. Be professional and keep growing.
