is completely undermined if the fans lose confidence that everyone on both sides is trying to win. If that confidence goes away, the league is not providing competition anymore and is just an entertainment exhibition, similar to the WWE.

There is room for that in the baseball landscape (see Savannah Bananas), but that’s not what the MLB is or what anyone wants it to be.

And spare me the “he only bet for his teams to win” argument. That argument might have a little bit of merit if Rose bet on his teams to win every single game. But he did not.

I don’t really care whether they put him in the Hall of Fame. Maybe I’d like to see him in there, along with his complete story. But let’s not put him in under some false pretense that what he did “wasn’t that bad.” It was.
