I'm not uneasy - I'm thrilled
It's easy to see that BYU has been fortunate in a few games this season. Some of that is the opponent making key mistakes, and some of it is BYU forcing mistakes. And clearly BYU has played great in spurts, and not so well during other stretches. But to come through all of that at 5-0 is a sign of great progress - offensively, defensively, and on special teams.

It's probably more likely than not that BYU will lose more games than they win over the last 7 games. Some of that will be injuries, some of it will be the lucky bounces evening out, some of it will be just playing better teams than what we've already played. But what we've seen over the first five games (and even going back to the last 2 games from last season) is the ability to be in every game and all else being equal, maybe making a couple of key plays they didn't make last season that results in squeaking out an ugly win versus just having another loss.

It's certainly possible we end up 10-2. It's more likely we end up something like 8-4, and that would be great progress over last year and over what most people thought was the ceiling for this year.

I think BYU’s analytics are a little more at odds with each other this year. (Indy Coug, Sep 30, 2024 at 9:26am)
