Of the 4 other times post-LaVell, here is how the seasons ended:
2001: 12-0 before our first loss (vs. Hawaii) and got to as high as 8 in the AP Poll. Finished 12-2 ranked #25
2008: 6-0 before our first loss (vs. TCU) and were ranked as high as #8 in the AP Poll. Finished 10-3 and ranked #25.
2020: 9-0 before our first loss (vs. Coastal Carolina) and were ranked as high as #8 in the AP Poll. Finished 11-1 and ranked #11.
2021: 5-0 before our first loss (vs. Boise St.) and were ranked as high as #10 in the AP Poll. Finished 10-3 and ranked #19.
So if history is any indication, we can probably expect a couple of losses down the stretch. Still a very good chance of 10 wins and finished ranked by the end of the season, though.

Did I hear correctly that this is just the 8th time BYU has started a season 5-0? If so, some perspective is in order
