I don't care enough to argue about it but I think there's a good chance this
happens and you're going to be wrong.

My scenario 1 gives me pause in that confidence though. Where the in team not only doesn't care about the game but actually wants to lose. That's the one I'm hoping for so we can find out.

I'm also hoping for whatever scenario gives the 5 seed the strongest pitching availability for the Wildcard, either to beat the Padres who I don't want to face, or at least take them to 3 games so whoever wins has to pitch their #1 on 3 days rest or go with their 4th starter for NLDS Game 1 (and likely 5).

Dodgers are likely going to be sorry they are grabbing the top seed. I would have taken the 2 to get the Brewers/#6 instead of Padres/#5. But maybe it will pay off if we get to the NLCS against the Phillies...
