As economic opportunities available to women increased, more chose to work and..
have fewer children. This has been crystal clear from the data for many decades. With amount of education the average woman has today versus 50 years ago is significantly higher. It's no longer legal to discriminate against someone for their gender. With the extraordinary amount of income available to people, regardless of gender, if they choose to work it is not surprising in the least that more people chose to work.

The wealth enjoyed by the average person today versus what the average person had 50 years ago is staggering.
