once the University accepts the letter of intent, they are on the hook for all those things, he will get those for the rest of the school year even if he quits playing for the football team because they are bound by the signed letter per NCAA guidelines.
Typically that is 50-100K+ per year for a football scholarship, I would say there is a duty owed for accepting that.
Pretty selfish to think you can take those kinds of benefits and then crap on the university for other benefits that aren't specifically provided by the university.

The athletes relationship with an NIL collective is totally separate from the scholarship with the University. NIL are basically slightly legalized bagmen, if you think bagmen have always kept their promises, you need to educate yourself on the innerworkings of pre-NIL bagmen, lots of broken promises in that world, but athletes couldn't talk about it because it was illegal at the time.
I am not saying that an athlete should not have power to change their school if they don't like the situation they are in, but it should be a 2 way street, and what is happening now, is not that.
