The only thing they ever try to figure out is whether the betting line is enticing equal money on both teams. That's it. Vegas could not care less which team covers the spread nor by how much as it makes zero difference to them. Except on rare occasions, one of the teams will be covering the spread, Vegas doesn't care which one it is, and it makes no difference whether the spread is covered by 1 pt or 50 pts.
