Observations the punt return for a TD...

BYU was in punt safe, due to it being 4th and 2, so other than Parker Kingston, the rest of the punt return team was our regular defense.

  • KSU is on their own 33 yard line.
  • Isaiah Glasker is standing on the 38 yardline as the ball is snapped.
  • Parket Kingston was standing just inside the BYU 30 yardline and presumbably on the hash.
  • He touches the ball at about the 22 yardline
  • The ball bounces at the 21 and Parker picks it up at about the 10 yardline and is maybe 5 yards away from the sideline.
  • He runs backwards to the 2 yardline.
  • Glasker gets back to the 4 yardline and blocks K-State #48 at the 5 yardline before leading Parker down the sideline.

(Note: the football field is 53 1/3 yards wide (160') the hashes are 40' apart with 60' between them and the sideline.)

Parker runs ~26 yards backwards, ~15 yards towards the sideline then ~48 yards across the field, and ~98 yards to the endzone. By my count that's about 187 yards, less 5-10 since he gets to take the angles on those. Let's call it ~180 yards he actually runs on the punt return. (Note: Not a 180 yard punt return, just ~180 yards he actually ran to make the 90 yard punt return.)

Glasker goes about ~57 yards backwards, ~27 yards across the field, and ~96 yards to the endzone, beating Kingston to the endzone. By my count, that's about 180 yards he ran as well, and he was running faster than Kingston at the end. (Just a little crazy.)

Shout out to Jakob Robinson (5'11" 170 lbs) for a great block on #56 Leingang (6'6" 306 lbs OL) at ~48 yardline!

What a great return that started out as a near disaster!
