If it wasn't for some fortunate bounces, particularly on the punt return, KSU would likely not have gone for the 4th down conversions that they did out of desperation. They would have punted and not given BYU such good field position (and maybe got better field positions themselves on subsequent drives). That field position led to the last of BYU's touchdowns. Take that one away, it would have been 20-9. There's also the mental component that is impossible to factor in. Ultimately it's impossible to say what the score would have been if not for a few key plays. I'm confident that the team that played better, won.
