Contract goes into effect in a year, he’s still on his rookie contract this year. As of now he’ll be the 3rd highest paid player on the team, below Sergachev at $8.5M and just a smidge below Clayton Keller’s $7.15M.

He was the #9 overall pick in 2021. He played 33 games with the Coyotes in 22-23 (spending the rest of the year in junior) and played 45 games with the Coyotes last year (he also got in 29 games plus some playoff games in the AHL with the farm team).

He’s got a great one-timer and the analytics like him, and 24 goals/26 assists in his first 78 NHL games is a good start. But this is definitely a projection contract, with the assumption that if they signed him to a 2 year bridge deal to see if he develops as they assume/hope he will, it will cost them a lot more to get him signed at the end of that contract.
