There is potentially some science behind the night game magic.
Over the last few years, conventional wisdom has changed regarding altitude acclimation for athletes. It used to be believed that the more time you had to acclimate the better, but that is no longer the case. Unless you have 2 weeks to acclimate, teams or athletes should plan on competing within 24 hours of arrival at higher elevation.

Night games at LES make this almost impossible for college football teams unless they want to try and fly in on gameday. If I am tracking the correct flight, K-State will be landing mid afternoon. Just in time for a miserable night of sleep at elevation and the event is well outside the 24 hour time frame needed to peak performance. I think this has a lot to do with BYU typically overperforming in the trenches during night games. This is a brutal start time for Kansas.
