Methodology is everything in these studies. Some don’t measure satisfaction
at all, but rather measurables that the designer of the study believes are important to happiness. I remember one study that rated countries on happiness, and most heavily weighted were factors like whether they had socialized medicine and free child care. So the result was that European countries with high taxes/high social services were deemed the happiest. Meanwhile Samoa didn’t have a chance.
