I took my son to a guitar shop and had him try playing on a few
That allowed him to find one that was easiest for him to play on.
Different guitars have different action so finding one they are comfortable with will make practice more enjoyable and more likely for them to stick with it.
Most importantly don’t go cheap and get one off Amazon that has poor action and doesn’t stay in tune. Expect to pay a few hundred dollars for a decent starter guitar.
