coaches. That isn't meant to be a knock on LaVell at all. He quickly got the reputation as someone willing to innovate and someone who would allow his coaches to try what they wanted to try. So, coaches that otherwise wouldn't have been interested in BYU at all sought out LaVell so they could try out their ideas. Then as those coaches left BYU, people began to seek those coaches out as well for the same reasons, which also grew LaVell's tree.
