From what I've heard
Traditional coding jobs have cratered because GPT coding has pushed productivity up,up,up so you can fire coders and save cost
Next, the big area of spend now is in AI which is driven by in-person networks meeting physically in the bay area
So COVID pushed jobs away from SF and AI is pulling them back
