You can get the appropriate app for the train you’ll be taking.
Great Western Railway, etc. Then you just scan through with your phone.
If I remember right, you can’t buy the ticket through the app until you’re in country - maybe it has some geo fences enabled?

Should note that's for the tube. Think trains require a ticket but kiosk works fine.

For tubes - use the same card, as they use that to automatically give you the optimized single/multi/day ticket.

No need to get tickets anymore for subway/tube. For the trains, or express, same day works unless you want to reserve
