BYU was going independent regardless. They would have just put other sports in WAC, and the MWC would have stayed as it was. Only difference perhaps would have been the ESPN TV deal for the WAC, which would have benefitted the WAC, and perhaps that would carry a new GOR that would have kept Fresno and Nevada in the league instead of moving to the MWC. All of that would have just been a strengthening benefit to the WAC, not a 'destruction' of the MWC.
