USB-C allows so much bandwidth (and power) that other protocols can be run
Inside of it, in software, in parallel.

I don’t know the exact numbers, but if you have 10 gbps available, a 1 gbps Ethernet connection isn’t a big deal.

Also remember that rj45/cat5 are just the physical layer, which has been replaced by the usbc physical layer.
