Ben Criddle was quite the supporter, but wow, he was greatly agitated by the 3 turnovers with the indication that while we were led to believe that maybe JR had turned the corner on turnovers (no pun intended), the SMU game was proof that he hadn't. 960's supporting cast hasn't been blowing much sunshine up JR's backside either.
Kelly Poppinga didn't appear too happy either. I believe he's like many of us. Kind of like we might view our child that we thought had his/her thumb sucking was in the past, but suddenly we witness that they haven't really overcome.
I've been around long enough to find it hard to believe that he had gotten over that challenge so quickly, so I don't believe I was as surprised. In total honesty, I find it hard to not give GB a shot. But, that could turn against you if you believe JR can overcome this turnover tendency. I don't know how hard it is for someone with JR's competitive nature to let QB knowledge/skill lead him away from this quirk he has. I had been exited in anticipation that JR had made some significant growth, which had the potential to bring us a QB that could play more than one season. For any greatness that GB might achieve yet, there's always the understanding that he's a one-and-done.
