The word "overrated" is itself overrated and a dumb word.

The word “Over-rated” implies something has been “rated” in a certain way,
but that it should be objectively “rated” lower.

Dictionary: “to rate or estimate too highly”

Take Harry Potter as my example:

Yeah, the super fans “over-rate” it

But general population IMO has FAIRLY rated it as a fantasy series with fun characters and world.

And any super-fans are balanced out anyway by hipsters who hate it cuz it’s too mainstream,

meaning, if you took a survey, the show would be fairly rated.

“Overwatched” would be a more meaningful term to use for media
