Yes, Retzlaff played poorly and we didn't take enough shots and it hurt when L.J went out. But that's football and you are going to have games where one phase of the game needs to be picked up and it was obviously the offense tonight. Last year BYU would have lost this game, but tonight the Defense picked up the offense and that is what needs to happen to be successful.

This back 7 is very good and the D-Line is improved enough that QB's can't sit back there waiting for receivers to uncover. This is among the most athletic set of linebackers BYU has ever had, Kelly, Taggart and Glasker (He is a player) can all run.

Sometimes you have to take an ugly win and that is what it was tonight, but it's a win and it shows the character of this team is different. They play hard for each other and if Retzlaff can play with some consistency they can win at least 7 games, which I will happily take knowing how much help we need in the QB room.

The other really positive thing about tonight is BYU is starting to develop depth, especially on the defensive side and that bodes well for a tough schedule.
