Waterman had defensive rebounding rate of 18.7, #324 in NCAA, highest among BYU players who qualified with a
minimum of 40% of minutes played. Fouss, who played only 35% of team minutes defensive rebounding rate was 19.5. Waterman's offensive rebounding rate improved last season but was only average at 6.0, less than Richie 7.2 and Spencer's 6.8. Per Pomeroy.

That is the biggest hole which had not been filled until the Boskovic signing.

Waterman was a particularly tough kid. Bosko might be a comparable replacement for Waterman.

In terms of costly losses, IMO, Spencer Johnson is #1, followed by Waterman, Khalifa, and Robinson, who was overrated by nearly everyone who does not follow the more reliable modern stats.

At this point, I agree that BYU looks to have upgraded at every position, including depth, and that assumes some improvement from every returning player.

But no question, Waterman's rebounding improved significantly from prior years, from low average to fairly strong, and BYU's biggest glass contributor overall last season with Fouss ailing much of the year.

Fouss rebounding rate in prior years qualifies as elite and top 50 in the Nation. If he makes enough improvement on defensive pick and roll where he has been rather poor, he should log major minutes.
