In order for Cam to have a shot at the NFL he has to avoid getting injured.
In order for the Utes to avoid having to play an untested freshman needing knee surgery Cam will have to avoid getting injured again. The best way to prevent Cam from getting injured is to keep him from running the ball so much, which takes away a huge part of what makes him as good as he is. Whitt has already said they won't be running as many QB run plays this year and has talked at length with Cam about running less and avoiding injury. I don't see a hamstrung Cam Rising having a breakout year this year. Cam's ability to throw isn't all that great and if that's all he's got (besides hype) I think this is his last year of football. In my opinion he was wise to sit last year out and enjoy the NIL money because I don't see him making a career out of football.
