I knew John well. He’s a genuinely good dude. So is the family.

His dad and mom were Lifesavers when my wife and I had some difficult situations remodeling our house. We had started remodeling and had knocked a hole in the side of the house and then I got injured snowboarding and had to have surgery. My wife was 7.5 months pregnant. John’s Dad being the kind of guy he is took the bull by the horns and kind of became a project manager coordinating friends in the ward and people that he knew to help us get it finished before the baby was born.

John really wanted to help as well, but his dad refused to let him. He was scared that John would hurt his hands right before the season started.
