If a parent dies and the other parent (as step-parent) is still living, do adult biological children of the deceased parent have a legal right to recieve access to financial information (e.g., probate, life insurance of the deceased (living spouse is the sole beneficiary)?
There is no will. No written documentation at all. Everthing is in probate and there is life insurance but the the living spouse will not share the information of the amount. I understand that they have no legal access to the life insurance money but we are trying to figure out if the adult children can get access to any financial information. Their names are not on anything.
We are trying to see if we need to get a lawyer to see if the adult children have any legal access to any financial information of their deceased parent.
