Apparently only in rifle shooting at the Olympics is there parity, but not superiority.
In every other event there is a clear difference.
Outside the Olympics it appears that women may have an edge with ultra-long distance swimming in cold water. Talk about a niche area for athletic advantage. It may be that women, with higher fat content, are able to tolerate the cold water longer.
This article also mentions that in ultra-long distance running of greater than 195 miles (which is just crazy) that women can be 0.6% faster. Again, ultra-niche areas where they can compete at an even level or be superior.
At the end of this article they state tha much of the science is unsettled. Not sure why anyone would say that. We have thousands of years of evolution and data that show clear trends.
