1. Dallin Hall - he is definitely the floor general out there. He looks to have made another leap from last year and is able to break guys down off the dribble and is more aggressive in taking the ball to the hoop. He’s getting guys in the right spots on defense and looks to be a bit quicker laterally compared to last year.
2. Egor Demin - he has a very cerebral feel to the game. He doesn’t force things and lets plays come to him. He finds the holes in the defense and exploits them. Has shown a knack for a killer pick-n-roll game with Keita that seems like it could be unstoppable. An underrated defender who can guard 1-4.
3. Richie Saunders - nothing has changed with the intangibles he brings of energy, tenacity, and grittiness. However, he’s spent a lot of time on his three-point shot, and coaches wouldn’t be surprised if he shoots 40%+ from beyond the arc.
4. Kanon Catchings - most fans don’t understand he is a three-level scorer. Very versatile within the offense and can play in a lot of spots on the floor. He’s not as polished as Egor and is a bit slower to grasp KY’s offense, but you can see this kid will score a lot of buckets in a lot of different ways for the Cougars.
5. Keba Keita - his athleticism is well-documented. What most don’t understand is his toughness and scrappiness, which is a lethal combo with his athleticism. He’s beginning to develop some one/two dribble moves down low similar to Fouss, though he will never have the footwork Fouss has. His pick-n-roll game with Egor is virtually unstoppable (even in the Big12).
I know we’re starving for basketball news. I haven’t attended any practices. The above is taken from other CB posts and incorporates some wishful thinking.
