I share this with trepidation, but maybe it will help someone.
This post came about because of an earlier thread about favorite guitar solos and sounds.

I love music. I love all kinds of music and some of my most spiritual and emotional experiences have come with certain music being played. My favorite band is Tool. I believe they are the culmination of mixing Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who and other bands with spiritualism while the lyrics of many of their songs, though sometimes disturbing and raunchy, tend to have deeper meaning that "speaks" to me. Having dealt with a lot of emotional trauma and varying levels and types of abuse growing up music and attending concerts always helped soothe me and allow me to to escape for a little bit, similar to the temple in some ways.

I have been in therapy for a long time, but recently I discovered this YouTube channel called HeartSupport. In it, a therapist breaks down what she thinks the meaning behind some songs may be including bands/artists such as: Tool, System of a Down, Metallica, NF, and others. I really like her perspective in many of these videos because even though a song may seem negative and depressing, she is able to empathize with the feelings and frame things in a way that is positive. It's also kind of funny watching someone unfamiliar with these artists react to their videos and songs.

Anyway, I just thought I would share because some of the songs she reviews are my favorites of all-time. Please don't be too critical of me, I'm just trying to share something that has had a positive impact on me. I have included a link to the song "Schism" which helped my wife and me in our recent marriage struggles. Cheers!
