OFFENSE
1. LJ Martin… flashed star potential as a true freshman. After adding 20 lbs of muscle to his frame, he is poised to be a 1,000 yard back if he stays healthy.
2. Chase Roberts… led the team in receiving with 42 catches as a sophomore. He’s ready to blow up and become a true WR1 and NFL prospect as an upperclassman.
3. Darius Lassiter… 29 catches in just 8 games last year, among which were several acrobatic highlight reel grabs. Darius has the ball skills to blow up this season.
4. Keanu Hill… love the move to tight end. The 6’4 target with 73 career grabs has beefed up to 242 lbs and will be a mismatch for opposing LB’s.
5. Miles Davis… he has flashed his talent in limited opportunities as evidenced by his career 5.4 ypc. One of the best pure athletes on the roster, he will be counted on this year for a bigger role.
DEFENSE
1. Jack Kelly… a dynamic playmaker at Weber State as a sophomore, the 4-star transfer will be a major difference maker in Provo.
2. Tyler Batty… our best returning player on defense, why would I have him on this list? Because I believe he’s poised for a Bronson Kaufusi type of breakout senior year where he goes for 8+ sacks and 10+ TFL’s and makes All Big 12 1st or 2nd team.
3. David Latu… the 6-4/305 former Snow College standout will be counted on heavily this season. Jay Hill’s defense desperately needs him to emerge as a quality starter at DT.
4. Harrison Taggart… the Oregon transfer and former 4-star recruit had 28 tackles last season as a RS freshman. If Bywater’s shoulder continues to be an issue look for Taggart to start in his place.
5. Raider Damuni… the former 4-star signee had 21 tackles last year as a freshman coming off his mission. He’s ready to assume a bigger role in 2024.
