...this is the perfect job for a go-getter in college where you need flexibility and control over when you work and also want to earn more than minimum wage.
Here's how it works, go through those upper-middle class neighborhoods where the homes all have manicured lawns and driveways. Print out flyers telling the homeowner that you're an honest, hard-working college student and quote your rate per sq ft (not sure what it is for Utah). Once you get your first job in that neighborhood and you finish it, then go and knock the doors of each of his neighbors and point out how great his driveway looks and let them know you're available to do theirs as well. The peer pressure amongst homeowners in those neighborhoods can be your best weapon, nobody wants to have the cruddy looking yard or driveway.
The beauty of this is you can schedule around classes and study time and even hire a buddy or two once you start picking up a lot of jobs. Not sure what the going rate is in Utah for residential sealcoating but if it's $1.00 per sq ft and you do a home with a 3 car garage you can figure their driveway to be around 700-900 sq ft. It might take an hour to clean and prep and another 3 or so to seal coat. It doesn't take special skills or equipment, just need a good deck brush, squeegee, power washer, some gloves, etc. Beats working fast food or cutting grass.
