Last question. My high school coach always joined in on scrimmages at practice

And was the best one on the field

Ive done the same with my rec teams.
Mostly because it's a Fun way to get my exercise in and also I just love playing soccer.

Is this frowned on these days? Is it frowned on at the high school level? Or are there other coaches who still do this?
