I have a belt that sets them off ~50% of the time.
Metal detectors need to be calibrated, and it’s been made obvious to me that this country has a “margin” of calibration across its airport metal detectors.

I just got into the habit of always taking it off and running it through x-ray. Every so often I’d have a tsa agent wave me through the metal detector and tell me my belt wouldn’t set it off. That agent was usually right 30-50% of the time.
