People that say Geddy Lee isn't a good singer are like people that say they
don't like Jazz music, IMO. In both cases, the speaker has a very narrow subset in mind and isn't aware of the majority of what is out there. In the case of Jazz, if I dig just a little I almost always find the person thinks of Kenny G/elevator music when they think of Jazz. They have almost never had much, if any, exposure, to a whole host of areas of music that fall within the "Jazz" umbrella or they don't think of other types of jazz when they think of jazz. Jazz includes big band/swing, Latin, fusion, bebop, funk, Dixieland, Bossa nova, blues and more).

With Geddy Lee, when someone says they don't like Geddy Lee, they're probably referring to early RUSH where Geddy's voice is on the high end of the register and he sounds a little "screechy" at times. That style of Geddy Lee is an acquired taste and I get people not liking it. But that isn't even close to to everything Geddy Lee has done in his vocal career. And he very clearly can sing well. And in more "mainstream" ways.
