Should parents and siblings attend when their kids get engaged?

I've seen a few Facebook posts from friends of mine where their son or daughter get engaged and family and friends are there watching....then they all take pictures about it together.

I always thought getting engaged was personal....between the couple and not family members. Times have changed.
