Holds up great — except there's no way they'd kick off the pool hall fight the same way if they made it today (with Jackie Chan cheerfully using a slur twice).
Shame that Chris Tucker made so few movies, though preferring to hang out at the beach rather than work is completely understandable and relatable. One of the funniest actors ever IMO. And terrific chemistry with Jackie Chan — better than countless romcoms.
Striking how much better it looks than many movies released today. A $35M comedy from 1998 by a hack director and it visually looks ten times better than Hit Man or The Fall Guy or American Fiction or countless other movies. None of that too-even lighting. If you came across this while flipping channels, even without knowing what it was, you'd know you were watching a movie and not some sitcom.
