It is scripted practice, supervised by joystick coaches constantly telling the kids exactly what to do.
What we need and lack is creativity born out committed, constant play that is unsupervised. We need the skills that come from not even caring about scoring, but just wanting to show off at the park in front of your friends. We need kids that have played most of their games knowing that they're going to get fouled and cheated and that they just have to go through it anyway if they want to score in a pick-up game because you don't even get a PK or a freek-kick.
When you have those skills and that mind set added to a formal, officiated, win oriented setting, with real tactics, you have something different than and better than US soccer.
