As a skeptic of the current staff. This is the biggest thing they can do to restore my faith until winning games is an option. I want better QB play, I want pressure on opposing QBs, but I really want the o-line to be a lot better. They set the tone for everything and they have largely disappointed for 2 years. I hope it was Funk and that Woods (and a more instinctive scheme) will make a big difference this year. I hope Hill has the D a little more consistent (especially as he gets more of his guys) and finds a D-lineman that other teams gameplan for.
I always like to see bigtime recruits (love getting Swanson and Waller), but The O-line really needs the help. Last year's class was heavy on defensive talent and did not get highly rated help for the O-line, though I liked that we competed with bigger names for that talent. This helps me feel like the offense is also willing to compete with other p4 programs. I like that we beat out conference opponents for this guy and that those are some teams that like to control the line of scrimmage. I wish we had been able to leverage 2020 and 2021 as well as the Big XII upgrade into recruiting wins faster, but even if it is late it is welcome.
Go win (7-5 would be an acceptable first step and maybe even 6-6) and get more big-time line prospects and I will be back to being a believer. Until then I appreciate the recruiting uptick that is giving me a little more hope.
