I have an older Mak 2 star general. I love it.
As a grill, I find it to be as good as propane ones I have used, meaning I get around 600 degrees at the grate. If you need higher heat searing I think charcoal grills are a better answer. Since you said you have propane, I find this comparable, but better flavors because the heat source is burning wood.

They are VERY well built, and will last forever IMO.
