I just watched it for the first time in years and it holds up well, even though there is some cheesy dialogue and meh acting at times (especially from extras). The special effects and set pieces are still awesome. There is a ton of stuff we would do today with cgi that honestly looked better with old school props and animatronics and such (at least when done well).

I wonder how much of my perception is tinted by nostalgia though. I'm not a huge star wars person, but I do like the original trilogy.

I just wonder how modern audiences would react to it if nobody had ever made star wars before.
