Random thoughts:
I never wanted an electronic drum kit until I played a friend’s really nice Roland TD-50 (I think was the model). It has so many great sounds. I would love to own one of those.
That same friend also has a keyboard with a theremin. We were jamming to a rage against the machine song and then he whipped out the theremin to create some really gnarly distortion.
In addition to being a joy to play, guitars are displayable works of art. One day I would still love to own a Gretsch White Falcon, a Rickenbacker 660/12, and both a Gibson SG and Les Paul Junior.
My first electric guitar was a Made in Mexico Fender Stratocaster with a Floyd Rose thing on it. I bought it from a guy who lived right next to the IPF for $300 in 2002 and the guitar and case both reeked of cigarette smoke. I think I was like the 10th owner. I sold it 10 years later for $300.
