Expert DIYers, which is the best 12”-18”retaining wall build:
1. Retaining wall blocks from Lowe’s, $90 total cost. Only held together by gravity.

2. Use old pressure treated 2x4s every 3 feet as posts (2 ft deep) and then old 2x6s painted with Kilz as the wall. $25 cost.

3. Buy pressure treated 6x6s, anchor them to the ground with sledge and rebar. $120 total cost.

4. Hire a guy for $1500.

As it’s only 12”-18” tall and 10’ long, I’m not planning on a gravel base, gravel or drainage backfill…but should I? The yard slopes gently.
