WhatsApp is better than SMS sure, but it’s not better for me than iMessage.
When I did a study abroad in Spain I used WhatsApp and I didn’t have any major complaints. But it’s just a little more clunky and not as streamlined as iMessage itself.
In the US almost everyone I text has iPhones so I have no need for WhatsApp. But if it ever got to the point where that wasn’t the case, I would be fine with WhatsApp

It surprises me people still use text. The U.S. needs to catch up and start using WhatsApp. So much better experience.

Encryption. Unlimited groups. Works on all platforms (even PCs). Can do polls and loads of other features. Better search

I agree it’s not a technology thing. The U.S. started with texts and doesn’t like to change in mass (which is required)
