was a sunburn. I had gone canoeing and I didn't think to put anything on my legs. I had 2nd degree burns. We lived on the Shenandoah River and would often canoe down it. My wife was out of town and I just remember the excruciating pain and literally wanting to die. Honestly, after that experience, if I get burned badly, I hope it takes my life. I don't know how people make it through that pain.
My wife comes home and says (she's a nurse), "Oh. Just take some ibuprofen." I said, "That's not going to help." I did it anyways and within 15 minutes I was among the living again and I felt terribly stupid to have suffered a whole day when the remedy was that easy. Other than that, I broke a finger playing PeeWee football, but all the other entries on here sure made me understand how fortunate I've been.
