My wife's diamond fell off her wedding ring, we were renting a home then and had a renter's insurance policy. I called
the insurance company just to ask if that loss was covered, they said it wasn't so after I hung up the automated survey came on and I marked that I wasn't happy with the result. A few minutes later (maybe coincidence?) she calls back and says she is sorry but found out it was actually covered up to $1000, better than nothing. Got a check in the mail a few days later and never thought more of it. Fast forward to a month ago and I'm trying to close on a home and needed a home insurance policy. The girl basically said I didn't qualify because the system wouldn't let her get past a certain point. The only thing she could think of is that I had that claim just short of 5 years ago and sometimes it will disqualify you until 5 years pass then it drops off the record. Needless to say I got it from somewhere else that also offered me a much better rate on auto insurance as well.
