One of the people I had the privilege of home teaching as a YM growing up was a WWII hero, Quentin Murdock.
It has been speculated that Quentin was one of the only people who participated in and survived all three major beach invasions in the Western theater of WWII, North Africa, Sicily, and Normandy.

I've sat with him in his living room, with him weeping as he described guys dying on his right and on his left, and then his struggles later in life not understanding why he lived and they had to die. He said that the only answer he has ever received to those deep struggles and questions was a whisper from the Spirit of God that it was because of the prayers of his mother.

He has been awarded a Silver Star among other medals. He was taken prisoner and was a POW that only escaped after the prisoner transfer ship was sunk and he was rescued by fishermen.

Thank you to all veterans, especially to all who were there on that day 80 years ago.
