Is a positive FIT test a true concern (Med Professionals)?

My understanding is the ONLY thing a colon FIT test confirms is blood in stool(even just unseen trace amounts)?

Is this correct and I'm guessing the blood is far more likely (statistically) the result of benign hemorrhoids or minor fissures?

The doctor I saw said a positive FIT was the easiest way for me to get a colonoscopy covered by my insurance at my age.
