Looking at the diversity of backgrounds of this coaching staff, and the fact that most are coming from environments far different from Provo, it's clear how much they value their relationships and previous coaching experiences with Kevin Young. Aside from Burgess, none of the other 4 assistants, to my knowledge are LDS nor do they really have any other ties to BYU/Provo or even the state of Utah. But Voigt, Fanning, and Linehan all developed relationships with KY in the G-league and Dunson already had a good relationship with KY's brother. I think this goes to show just how much they guys valued their prior experiences with Kevin Young and his ability to coach and so forth and I think that speaks volumes.
Of course they're probably being respectably compensated for the move too, but that's still not a move guys like that typically make unless they really value the boss they'll be working for. It'll be interesting to see how long this staff stays together and what the turnover rate will be going forward as any amount of success will no doubt lead to all these guys getting more and more opportunities to weigh in the near future against staying on with Young to push BYU to further and further heights.
