1. Sebastian Fernandez, 800m
Predicted Nationals Finish: 8th-10th
Comes in with only the 16th fastest time but rumors are he has been dynamite in workouts and hasn’t quite put it all together on race day. The top 2 in each heat (3 heats) advance plus the next three fastest times. Sebastian is in a very fast heat, and that gives him a better chance at getting a little q.

2. James Corrigan, 3000m Steeplechase
Predicted Nationals Finish: 4th-6th
The cross-country All-American has made a habit of peaking at the right time. He comes into the field with the 7th fastest time, and he won his heat at Regionals despite coasting down the home stretch.

3. Wyatt Haughton, 3000m Steeplechase
Predicted Nationals Finish: 18th-20th
He comes into the race with the 22nd fastest time (out of 24) and is happy to be at Nationals as a true freshman. The 3:57 miler has shown steady improvement over the season to get to this point - he will likely need a sizable PB in the prelims (~8 seconds) to move on to the finals.

4. Aidan Troutner, 5000m
Predicted Nationals Finish: 22nd-24th
He has the slowest PB out of all 24 runners but made it to Nationals by running an uncharacteristically good race by sitting back and waiting to pass two runners on the final lap at Regionals. Considering he’s not even one of the top five fastest guys on his team in this event he’s just happy to make it to Nationals.

5. Dallin Shurts, Discus
Predicted Nationals Finish: 2nd-4th
Comes in with the 3rd-best PB and he took 1st at the West Regionals. He also has a legitimate shot to represent Team USA at the Paris Olympics. He definitely seems to be peaking at the right time.

6. Cameron Bates, Javelin
Predicted Nationals Finish: 8th-10th
He’s been to Nationals multiple times before. He comes in with the 10th-best mark and has a chance to become an All-American (top 8) with a good meet.

7. 4x400m Relay
Predicted Nationals Finish: 18th-20th
They enter the meet with the 23rd fastest time. While they have little chance of advancing to the Finals they do have a chance to break the school record. Some members of the team are healthier than earlier in the season, so I do expect them to outperform their ranking.
