We do pretty well with our tech by having everyone have their own iCloud account and google account. All of the accounts are in a family and have appropriate age restrictions on content. The i-devices have schedules on them so they can't be used after or before certain hours. Youtube is something our older kids (9 and 7) use and Youtube Kids does an ok of getting them the content they want without seeing most of the ugly side of it.

I am very tech savvy (Im in a senior level IT position and have worked in the industry since I graduated) so I have some extra measures like a web content filter and pi-hole to filter stuff network wide.
